The best small marina in Croatia, awarded once again at this year's Days of Croatian Tourism, traditionally closes the year's successful season with another amazing event – the Sailing Challenge. Every year, Martinis Marchi gathers representatives of charter companies and agencies, representatives of marinas, leaders from the island of Šolta and locals, as well as other guests and dear friends, to thank all for excellent cooperation during the tourist season.
This year, our challenge also had a humanitarian character since funds were collected for the humanitarian association Osmijeh, a newly founded association for social integration of all age groups, especially devoted to helping children with difficulties from the island of Šolta. Also, during the morning, the traditional eco-cleaning action of the Martinis Marchi marina took place with the help of divers from Maslinica, PŠRD sports association, society Basilija & Trogir Diving Center.
Although the Sailing Challenge is not a real sports competition, the competitive spirit, as usual, was not lacking. An interesting route around the beautiful islands and islets in front of Maslinica, with a total length of about 7NM, was more than enough for the competitors, a total of 18 of them and one boat outside the competition of the Maritime Faculty in Split, to show their sailing skills, and this time the victory was won by the team Yachting in Croatia and Mario Kundih from World Yachting.
After the challenge, the great party continued with a prize awarding ceremony, where Martinis Marchi awarded not only the fastest but also the most persistent ones, the first over the start, the team with the most women, the one with the oldest ship and the oldest crew, but also those who are faithful to this challenge every year. All those who were not so lucky in the sporting challenge could be lucky in always interesting lottery where they could win an overnight stay in the Martinis Marchi heritage castle, dinner in the restaurant or a berth in our award-winning marina.
After a good meal, the evening was greeted with traditional Dalmatian klapa and songs. The cheerful company of all participants danced the night away because this is exactly why this small fishing village on the island of Šolta is always a gladly visited destination, both for tourists and locals. The Martinis Marchi team will make sure they all always feel welcome.
